虚构山谷 / 'FICTIONAL VALLEY', INSTALLATION RECORDING, 2023, CHINA
*The title of this work was originally ‘NO HOMELESS IN CHINA’, but was changed to avoid the current sensitive situation in China.

It is a repository for abandoned coal mines, which began to grow rapidly in China's remote mountainous regions at the end of the last century, both state-owned and privately owned.

In my father's memory, this waterfall didn't exist until a coal mine owner blew up the cave (Fairy Cave - so named by the locals because of the beauty of the cave).

These private mines were involved in many murders and land lawsuits at the end of the 20th century, most of the victims being Chinese tramps.
*These dark facts were answered in the film ‘The Blind Well’ (banned in China). The mine was urgently and forcibly shut down ten years ago, along with two other coal-producing areas in the valley.

This quickly ignited coal mining industry boom came to an abrupt end as a result of the industrial transformation and energy preservation under state policy.

I can't remember exactly when it started, no matter what city you go to, the homeless people on the streets have disappeared, and this is one of the reasons I found.
